No word from the appliance repair folks as of yet. I solved the leaky hose problem by elevating the end of the hose (the end from the floor) up above the level of the drain. It is now duct-taped to the edge of my counter. So at least I can wash dishes in the kitchen sink again. I also have to admit that I'm getting tired of seeing the dishwasher in the middle of my kitchen. It is an obstacle and isn't very attractive.
Last week Terminix came and reset the attic rat traps so that they'd spring quicker. If you recall, the rats had set them off two nights running, but not gotten caught. Since the adjustment the rats have ignored the traps altogether. I've heard them up there a night or two, but not as much as before.
The dishwasher space is as rat-proof as I can make it for now. Between the steel wool, foam, and sheet metal… If that doesn't do it I'm not sure what will. I'm wondering if they're not as interested in the attic any more now that they don't have easy access to a source of water. I did hear them in the kitchen wall the first night after I finished the rat-proofing, so perhaps they're ready to give up. Ha.
In other news, there's some sort of construction happing just over the fence on Hickam AFB. It looks like crews are building a temporary staging area, with garages for equipment and storage trailers. Not sure what it is all about. I do know that there's a very vocal supervisor over there. Who tends to micromanage. Maybe it is necessary, maybe not. But after a while I started laughing. "Put a screw in on the edge and center, and center. Edge, center, center. You follow?" "What the f*** are you doing that close to the edge? How are you going to tell if it is lined up from there. Be careful! Is it lined up? Is it?" Colorful. Makes life interesting!
