BRAAAAAAAAIIIINS!

With apologies to the vegetarians (Si assures me that if a vegetarian is killed and comes back as undead, it will moan, "GRAAAAAAAAAIIIIINS!"), and to anyone else this may offend, this cracked me up:

Thanks, Offeriffic, for posting that. Great stuff.

BRAAAAAAAIIIIIINS!

(Yes, I watched Buffy and Angel when they were still on. I even read Harry Potter[1], which is sure to excite some fundamentals. :) )

  1. One of my cell phone ring tones is the theme from the Harry Potter movies, something I find myself whistling idly all the time. Yep, doomed to eternal something. [<--]

Soccer

There's a fence a little way outside of my living room windows. Just the other side are some nice grassy areas that get used for kids' soccer games all the time. Today is a pretty average Saturday morning, with at least a few games in full swing.

I can't see much due to the screens and the large tree out there, but I can hear what's going on. And I really can't resist sharing:

"Tommy! Go Tommy go! THE OTHER WAY TOMMY, THE OTHER WAY!"

"Johnny get your fingers out of your mouth and watch the ball!"

"Pay attention Tommy the ball's in play!"

"Sam keep your hands to yourself!"

"Paul, go Paul! No, paul, you don't use your hands!"

All those were parents. My favorite from the kids was just before play started, while they were warming up:

"Tommy that was a foul ball!" "Jake, this is soccer stupid."

Quiz: Are you a heretic?

I really couldn't resist this one, found on Getting Out of the Boat.

You scored as Chalcedon compliant. You are Chalcedon compliant. Congratulations, you're not a heretic. You believe that Jesus is truly God and truly man and like us in every respect, apart from sin. Officially approved in 451.

In the news…

I have added a new category to my blog, "In the news..." You know, it helps you keep track of what I'm posting about, since I post so much these days. Heh. At any rate, this category will feature news stories that I felt compelled to post and, perhaps, comment on.

I'll start today with this, from CNN: Fetuses Don't Count... For Carpooling

Which raises some interesting questions: If a fetus doesn't count for a passenger when carpooling, does that mean it isn't human after all, and therefore abortion is okay? But wait! If a fetus is human, as some contend, then shouldn't it count?

Yes, both positions are (in my humble opinion) ridiculous. Carpooling has nothing to do with the humanity or lack thereof of an unborn child. As my friend Micah put it earlier, one must ask: Would the fetus be using another car if it hadn't decided to carpool with the mother? The answer is simple: Heck no. Carpooling lanes are supposed to promote fewer cars on the road. They aren't meant to build community or fight unused car seats.

But I'll betcha anything some individual or group out there latches onto this. Just wait.
